Let’s Catch up for coffee, relatable?

“We should REALLY catch up for coffee!” ☕ A line that’s often heard in the corridors of workplaces, or in chance meetings with friends, rushing in different directions.

Such a simple suggestion, and yet a missed opportunity, when it comes to dialing in to #Gallup #strengths.

If you or someone in your team has #Relator, (a high chance given it’s No.4 globally), then booking in a 10-15min coffee could open up major possibilities for people with Relator to be seen and heard.

In the Strengths world, “Relator” talents describe a person’s attitude toward their relationships. They’re drawn towards people they already know and could be described as friends or colleagues that like to have “friends at work”.

Relator theme means finding deep satisfaction in working hard with friends, to achieve a goal and building authentic relationships. For those who are tempted to quickly move on to business you may like to make time to encourage the Relator strengths by:

  • 🍉Asking people to sit at lunch and have a social chat away from work talk
  • 🫂Ask colleagues how they typically build strong relationships at work or socially? How do they build important business connections throughout the organisation? How do they build time to connect with people in a seemingly “busy” 🐝world?
  • 🔗Build in simple 10-15min connection activities at regular team huddles either prior or post business. Simple questions like “What’s something that has you pumped up at the moment?” or “What’s the bravest thing you’ve done this year?”.

Any quick questions in pairs, followed by a fast large group team share, can create small and important time to connect. And of course, the next time you or a colleague suggest a coffee catch up – just do it!!!! ☕
